God is mysterious but not illogical
This site is a collection of selected materials written by Minh Q. Phan on various topics. I am a professor of engineering by profession, and a follower of Jesus by faith which plays a key role in defining my identity. Recurring themes are Science and Faith, and the foundational concepts of Christianity. Other topics such as Mathematics, Engineering, Philosophy, etc. are also explored as a matter of inspiration. The views expressed herein are my personal views which develop over time. I am not advocating any particular theory of my own, but seeking Biblical truth that is not always obvious to everyone due to personal beliefs and assumptions. Since the objective is truth, I believe that we can and should approach it with an open mind and with the willingness to change our view if presented with new evidences that contradict previously held beliefs.Â
"God is mysterious but not illogical" is a "theorem" that I invented as a guiding principle. Because God is mysterious, there are limits as to how much we can fully understand Him. Because God is not illogical, it is possible to understand Him to a certain degree through logic and reasoning. Wisdom is striking that balance of knowing how far to push in the logical direction and not go any further. Because I am a Christian, I believe the Holy Spirit will guide me through logic and reasoning to a faith that is beyond logic and reasoning. I subscribe to the Apostles' Creed (150 AD) and the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed (325-381 AD) as my personal statements of faith.
If you are of the inquisitive type who is interested in the Christian faith through logic and reasoning, I hope you find information on this site useful. In a way this site documents my own faith journey that might be helpful as an example for your faith journey. May God bless you and keep you.
